Maxeda sets ambitious sustainability goals and joins SBTi

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and it is becoming increasingly clear that the sustainable choices of companies have a significant impact. At Maxeda DIY Group, the parent company of Brico and Praxis, sustainability has been part of the strategy for years. In 2021, for example, we set ourselves the goal of reducing our CO2 emissions by 20% by 2030. However, we want to take even bigger and faster steps and have set ourselves the new goal of reducing our emissions by 42% by 2030 (compared to base year 2020) and committing to the long-term goal of being climate neutral by 2050. To scientifically validate these targets, we have joined SBTi.

To gain further insight into our CO2 emissions, we had a baseline measurement carried out for the year 2020. This showed that we have indeed already taken many steps to reduce our own direct emissions. The challenge now is to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with our supply chain.

We are doing this by undertaking various initiatives throughout the supply chain, including drawing up a sustainable purchasing policy, working with our top 25 suppliers to make the assortment (products and packaging) more sustainable, and cooperating with other large DIY retailers worldwide. In the coming years, we will focus even more on this through various initiatives.
