History
Maxeda, former Vendex KBB, was the largest non-food retailer in the Netherlands with net-sales of EUR 3.8 billion. Maxeda employed over 37,000 people in more than 1,500 outlets across Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Germany, France and Spain).
Over the past few years, Maxeda has transformed the fashion formats and created better businesses with strong market positions.
31 January 2011 the Executive Board and Supervisory Board of Maxeda Retail Group B.V. ("Maxeda") announced that the strategic review of its fashion businesses, initiated in February 2010, has been completed. The Fashion Group comprised V&D, La Place, de Bijenkorf, Hunkemöller and M&S Mode.
Maxeda is nowadays a DIY retailer, the largest of the Benelux and will continue to support and invest in the Group, making Brico, BricoPlanit and Praxis more successful and positioning Maxeda DIY Group as a modern, integrated and market leading Benelux business.
