150,000 handtools collected

Gered Gereedschap supports (trainee) craftsmen and women in developing countries with knowledge, skills and resources. The right tools and machines, a high level vocational training and further guidance towards and at work form part of their support. It gives craftsmen the opportunity to an independent life, for example as a carpenter, car mechanic or tailor. This is how they fight poverty in a sustainable way, and it works.

Praxis has been a partner of Gered Gereedschap for more than 20 years now, and provides the possibility for customers to hand in tools in special collection containers in more than 150 stores. The number of collection containers at Praxis for Gered Gereedschap has increased significantly in 2019. A collection container has been placed in practically all the former Formido stores that have now been converted into a Praxis store. The collected tools are picked up by the workshops of Gered Gereedschap and are restored for a second life in various African countries. In 2019, more than 150,000 tools were collected from Praxis stores. In addition, Praxis sponsors the printed matter and newsletters published by Gered Gereedschap.
