182,728 kg electrical waste and bulbs collected

In the stores of Maxeda DIY Group customers are able to dispose of their batteries, (energy-saving) bulbs, fluorescent tubes and small electrical equipment in specially designated containers. In doing so, Maxeda meets the legal responsibility for collecting and recycling waste electrical equipment and (energy-saving) bulbs. This responsibility arises from European legislation regarding WEEE (Waste of Electric and Electronic Equipment). Praxis works with Wecycle, whilst Brico and BricoPlanit have joined forces with Recupel who pick up the collected materials and organise their recycling.

  • In 2019, Praxis stores collected 142,685 kg in the following categories:

33,803 kg bulbs / 8,615 kg LED fittings / 100,267 kg electrical products

  • In 2019, Brico/BricoPlanit stores collected 40,043 kg in the following categories:

6,212 kg bulbs / 33,831 kg electrical products

53,890 kg batteries collected

All stores of Maxeda DIY Group have a collection point for batteries in order to have these recycled by Stibat (in the Netherlands) and Bebat (in Belgium).
